Heritage Lottery Fund.

Past on your doorstep – Future in your hands

 

Three groundwork Trusts were funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund to deliver Past on your doorstep – Future in your hands.

 

• The heritage of coal mining in the region was delivered by Groundwork Stoke.
• The heritage of the canals in Coventry was delivered by Groundwork Coventry & Warwickshire.
• The heritage of the cemeteries in the Jewellery Quarter was delivered by Groundwork Birmingham & Solihull.

 

Groundwork Stoke on Trent & Staffordshire, Coventry & Warwickshire and Birmingham & Solihull are part of a nationwide federation of Groundwork trusts and has been facilitating environmental initiatives in local communities.

The trusts channel its focus to concentrate on Land, Community, Youth, Education, Employment and Business issues working with local people and businesses to improve the quality of their environment through environmental action. 

 

The Heritage Lottery Fund support a wide range of projects which aim to

 

• conserve and enhance the UK’s diverse heritage
• encourage more people to be involved in and make decisions about their heritage
• make sure everyone can learn about, have access to and enjoy their heritage

 

This website aims to provide teachers with information on how they can use their local heritage in their lessons. Each Project has given examples of how this can be achieved.
